Ethnus at JSSATE

The final year students of JSSATE who had enrolled for the placement training had a great learning experience for 6 days. Thanks to the Placement cell for bringing Ethnus to the college.

Ethnus was founded in 2007 with a single-minded objective of bringing about a qualitative change in campus recruitments, Ethnus has carved a niche for itself by focusing on mentoring and consulting at the grass root levels; be it students, colleges or even training programs.

It felt great to learn from mentors who have actually recruited thousands of students for different industries. A few were alumnus of IIMs, IITs. One of the mentors who taught 'work and time' had 99 percentile in CAT. It was like 'real HRs' recruiting 'real students' in an unreal interview process.

There were group discussions, interviews, quantitative aptitude, verbal, programming and other interesting activities. The best part was that they taught us the strategies to solve a given problem. We had games which helped us realize our potential to be a great team player, enhance leadership skills, improve coordination and things like that. For those 6 days coming to college never felt as boring as it used to be during regular classes.

Factors which made it interesting and unique:
  • Informal way of teaching
  • Cool attitude of mentors
  • Frequent breaks but of short duration
  • The last factor cant be expressed in words but has to be experienced by being there.

Which college to choose?

This is for all those who have finished their PU exams and CET by this time and would be wondering which college and course to join.

(note: always give course a higher priority than the college)

Coming to the question of "which course to join?", select something in which you are really interested, don't go by the trends.

For example,I was interested in "computer science and engineering(CSE)", not because of the fact that I would be called a software engineer in another 4years, but only because I am passionate about programming. I had very good CS teachers during my PUC. I learnt the basics very well. I love to write programs on my own. I don't find studying any topics related to computer science stressful. In fact, I enjoy learning them!

Therefore it is always better to select a course in which you have great interest. Don't worry about the kind of college you might get for that course.

Coming to the question of "which college to join?", select a decent college which is closer to your house. By doing this you can save a lot of time on traveling. And it's the matter of 4 years. Just think of how much time you might waste traveling to a college that is more than 6 Km from your house, and you need to travel so much twice a day for the next 4 years.

Do not worry about the college rank, worry about your rank in the college you join.
Once you join a college, take care that you make good friends and get into a better friends circle.

Here is a small list of colleges:

JSSATE CONTINUUM 2011

JSSATE, Department of computer science and engineering is organizing a 2 day Technical fest-Continuum 2011, April 8th and 9th.

Continuum is an annual Inter-collegiate Technical Fest organised by Department of Computer Science and Engineering and CREST. The first Continuum was started in year 2004 and was a mega success. The fest encompasses 20+ events ranging from purely technical to informal events.

Continuum is organized by CREST.

CREST is the tech club started by a bunch of enthusiastic students of Computer Science dept of JSSATE in 2009. It stands for Computer Research for Engineering STudents. We conduct talks/workshops/seminars and conferences to encourage students to take up research. So far, we have organised a number of talks from prominent people from both the industry and academia. The significant achievement of CREST is that we were able to produce 3 IEEE papers in a span of 6 months, something even IITs struggle to achieve.

After Continuum we have Verve 2011 coming up very soon.
