The 7th Jar of Gold

The 7th Jar of Gold

["Here is a writing which is surely going to motivate you and make you think good. This piece of text is worth every bit, make sure you read it".]

There lived a carpenter in a small town. He was once returning home and had to cross a forest. He was midway and he heard a voice from nowhere. It was a tree that was speaking.

Tree: O poor man, would you care to stop by and like to possess seven jars of gold?

Carpenter: I… err… sure, thank you for showing pity on a poor man like me! How I wish I have seven jars of gold with me.

Tree: So shall it be. Now go home. You will see your wish come true.

The carpenter went home anxiously and there really were seven jars of gold as told by the tree. The poor man was overwhelmed by this little magic that took place in his life. He thought that all his difficulties and misery would come to an end.

He checked all the jars one by one. All of them were filled with gold except the seventh jar which was only half filled.

A series of thoughts ran into his mind. He wanted the seventh jar to be as full as others.

And from that day, there was only one passion – to fill the seventh jar of gold. He worked harder and longer, he ate less, avoided celebrations, stopped buying new clothes and cut down on whatever possible. He saved money and filled the seventh jar with gold. Yet, the jar was not full.

He sold some of his belongings, begged his employer to increase his pay, he denied himself of every pleasure in order to save. Yet the jar was not full. No matter what the poor man did, the magic jar refused to be filled up completely- It remained, as before, partly empty.

This is what is happening to most of us. We dwell so much on little negative things happening in our life that we overlook the abundance of positivity. We deny ourselves the beauty of life just because of some small stupid problem.

There is also a saying which goes something like:

When one door of happiness closes; another opens. But often, we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us

Computer Science Farewell party - JSSATE

Great fun @ CSE Farewell!!!!!!!!!!

The farewell party for computer science and engineering students of JSSATE-Bangalore was held on 19 may 09. It was a huge gathering. I had been there with my friend Sumanth. As I came early, I even got to watch the rehearsals. Someone had got a beautiful guitar for the fashion show.

By noon, all the staff members and our beloved HOD, Dr. KAMALESH, had arrived. Firstly, there was a lamp lighting ceremony which was followed by an invocation song. By this time most of the 8th sem guys and gals of JSSATE had arrived. The entertaintment began with a group song, then there was a solo dance after which there were a few petty performances.

This farewell party was called as "SAVI NENAPU".

Dr.Kamalesh was asked to give a small advice to the outgoing batch. His speech was pretty different. He did it in style. His advice went something like this:
(He came on stage with a smile on his face)
(He put his left hand into his trouser's left pocket)

I hope that you people will do well...
I remember the last speech given by Murthy sir last time my students were goin out...
When I thought about my students surviving in the market, they are doing better than anybody else...(applause)
So whatever we advice; I dont think it's going to do much...
You people are much better...we lived in a different world and you live in a different world...(applause)
What you think counts a lot; not what we want to tell...
So in future dont take anybody's advice...

(Huge applause)

After that there was a dance performance during which all our seniors came on stage and started dancing. This was one of the most memorable moments of the party. They danced very well. Our senior called Svarup stole the show with his crazy choreography. We had Abhay - the rapper. He looked real cool. I think he had styled himself like Eminem. He rapped rapturously. He sportively took part in the paper dance contest. He also lifted his heavy partner. Unfortuately he couldn't make it. We also heard one of his Original Song compositions.(Too good).
I was totally enjoying this CSE farewell party.
I managed to take a picture of our seniors during the tea break. The picture didn't come out very well. I was using a 2mp moble camera!

In the end there was a 30 minute video showing how our outgoing batch had had a great time during their 4 years at JSSATE-Bangalore.

JSSATE Verve' 09 day 2

.
.
It was a Saturday. I heard the phone ring. I said "hello" half asleep.
It was Rohit on the other line," Tejus, where r u ? C- programming contest is about to begin in 10 minutess, come to SF-19".
Then I ...

I had my bath, skipped breakfast and rushed to my college- JSSATE(which is just 3 Km from my house). I Ran to SF-19. Thank god! They had just begun to give question papers. We tried to figure out the correct option using all the C- skills a II semester student could possibly have.
There were 30 questions. We were sure of getting at least 15 right. After 1 hr we came back to check the qualifiers list only to see that we were not on the list.( 28 was the highest and 18 was the cut off).

Then I played NFS Most wanted. No luck there too.

Debate was too cool. It was happening in the seminar hall. I went there . It was really cool!!!. The ACs were turned on.

After being there at rock show for more than an hour I returned home.
I thought I will go back to college at 7:00 pm for the fashion show but I chose to stay home watching the movie 'FASHION'.
